The spoils were shared at Old Trafford this afternoon as Manchester United and Liverpool were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw.
The result means that Jurgen Klopp is now winless against Erik ten Hag in the three matches that they’ve locked horns during the German’s final season in the dugout, having drawn 0-0 at Anfield, lost 4-3 in the FA Cup and taken just a point today.
His side opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before goals from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo, whose was outstanding, had United leading 2-1 heading into the final 10 minutes.
That was until Aaron Wan-Bissaka was adjudged to have fouled Harvey Elliott in the area, with Anthony Taylor almost immediately blowing his whistle and pointing to the spot on a decision that was quickly checked and cleared by VAR.
However, upon closer inspection, it doesn’t look as though Wan-Bissaka makes contact with the Liverpool attacker, leading fans to question the legitimacy of the penalty.
I know Wan-Bissaka shouldn't have gone to ground like that in the box, but he doesn't even make contact with Elliot.
In fact, Elliot falling over kicks Wan-Bissaka to force a contact. 🤔 pic.twitter.com/DCIfo47bvn
