Rio Ferdinand has sent a rallying message Leny Yoro’s way after the young Frenchman formally signed as a Manchester United player today.
The Red Devils announced their acquisition at 8pm, and credit must be heaped onto INEOS’ transfer chiefs for how efficiently they got the deal over the line.
Fans have been taken aback at how quickly terms were agreed – or even that United tried their luck in submitting a bid in the first place despite all reports claiming Yoro only wanted Real Madrid. Such speculation stopped Liverpool from igniting their pursuit, having eyed the teenager as a long-term Virgil van Dijk successor.
Yet, he’s now a Red after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal at Old Trafford.
Ferdinand’s welcome message to Yoro
In a video released by club media this evening, Ferdinand said to Yoro: “Congratulations, bro. Welcome to Manchester United.
“I wish you all the best. I know you’re going to work hard, and that’s the secret: work hard, work hard, work hard, work, work, work on all parts of your game. You’ve got all the potential, you’ve got all the tools, you’ve got everything there ready to rock and roll [and] to go [and] make a big impact at this club.
“It’s the best club in the world. It’s a beautiful place to be. Go and enjoy yourself, man, and I’ll see you soon. Good luck!”
