Algerian striker Youcef Belaili attacked a referee this Saturday during the match played with MC Alger in the Algerian Ligue 1.

Clearly, Youcef Belaili is still making headlines for his disciplinary deviations. This Saturday, during the match between MC Alger and Constantine in the Algerian championship, the former Ajaccio player was very close to hitting a referee.

At the 21e minute of this shock of the Algerian D1, Belaili committed a fault in the opposing half of the field for which he was warned. A sanction that he did not accept at all, and he did not hesitate to notify the referee.

Belaili spared by the referee

Rather than keep a low profile, he went to challenge the man in black. He grumbled, gesticulated and even got face to face with the referee. An unforgivable attitude which should have earned him expulsion. However, curiously, he did not receive a second toast on the spot. And a few minutes later, he once again protested against a foul called against him without being called to order.

The referee’s leniency had serious consequences. At the end of the first period, Belaili provided an assist for MC Alger’s opener, signed by Zakaria Naidji. The players of the opposing team then had reason to be angry.
