Vijay Deverakonda is a much-loved star pan India and the credit for it is mainly Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2017 film Arjun Reddy. The actor won several Best Actor awards for his performance but auctioned one of them in 2018 to raise money for the CM Relief Fund. He now talks about why he auctioned a prestigious award back then for Rs 25 lakh and why he wants him to collect memories rather than awards.
Vijay, in a recent interview, revealed that he is not attached to his awards. He even admitted that he had distributed a couple of his awards, including giving one away to Arjun Reddy director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. He also revealed that the award he auctioned got him a good amount of money. Read on to know all he shared.
Vijay Deverakonda on wanting more memories
As reported by Hindustan Times, Vijay Deverakonda in a recent interview revealed that he was never the kind of person to collect photographs or awards. However, that has changed for him in recent times. The actor stated that he enjoys looking at old pictures of his parents and wants to have pictures of himself enjoying things for his future children to see.
Vijay said, “I’ve been this way for the past six months, I’ve asked everyone around me to do it for me. I’ve been feeling like I want memories that I can share with my kids someday. I want to show them everything. Till recently, my phone would always be wiped clean every year. I was always about just living.”

Talking about his awards and certification, and if he displays them around his house, the ‘Family Star’ actor said, “Some might be at the office, some my mom must’ve kept at home. I don’t know which are mine, which are Anand’s. Some I give away. I gave one of them to Sandeep (Reddy Vanga). We auctioned my first Best Actor award. It got a good chunk of money, that’s a nicer memory for me than a piece of stone in my house.” According to Mid-Day, Vijay received Rs 25 lakhs for the prestigious award.
Vijay Deverakonda upcoming project
Vijay will soon be seen in Parasuram Petla’s Family Star. Starring Mrunal Thakur as the female lead, the upcoming flick sees Divyansha Kaushik and Rashmika Mandanna in cameo appearances. The film releases on April 5. Deverakonda will also star in a period action film with director Gowtam Tinnanuri.
