Journalist German Bona has revealed through SPORT that Villarreal star Alex Baena is crazy to join Barcelona, to the point that he has turned down offers from Premier League clubs.

In fact, Baena’s sole focus is on joining his dream club, Barcelona. He has made it clear that he does not intend to leave Villarreal unless it is for a move to the Catalan giants.

Baena’s desire to join Barcelona is no secret, and he has made his intentions known.

In recent interviews, Baena has openly expressed his admiration for Barcelona. He praised Hansi Flick’s squad and even mentioned how their style of play could benefit him personally.

Barcelona have been in touch, but…

Barcelona have been in contact with Baena’s agent, but no further steps have been taken so far. This is because of his hefty release clause, which stands at €60 million, along with his contract, which ties him to Villarreal until 2028.

Despite being comfortable at Villarreal, Baena has made it clear that the only club he would consider leaving for is Barcelona.

He wants to see strong interest from the Blaugrana before he makes any decisions about his future. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the midfielder, but Baena’s heart is set on Barça.

Baena wants Barcelona

His refusal to leave Villarreal for anyone other than Barcelona has led him to reject tempting offers from Premier League clubs, many of which were prepared to meet or come close to his release clause.

Even though his performances are improving with every match, and more top teams are showing interest, including some of the biggest clubs in England, Baena remains focused on his dream of playing for Barcelona.

Although he is known to be quite introverted, Baena has admitted to his close circle that his dream of joining Barça is still very much alive.
