Vin Diesel is returning the Fast & Furious franchise to where it all started: Los Angeles.
The actor took to social media to share a conversation with co-star Jordana Brewster about filming the rest of Fast X: Part 2 in LA to bring back production to the city following the devastating wildfires.
“Last week, during the fires that displaced LA… my sister Jordana reached out to me and said… Please have Universal film the rest of Fast X Part 2 in LA,” Diesel shared on Instagram alongside a photo of him and Brewster.
He continued, “Los Angeles needs it now more than ever… Los Angeles is where Fast and Furious started filming 25 years ago… and now Fast will finally return home. All love…”
Last year, Diesel confirmed that the franchise’s next installment would be its last, writing on Instagram, “Just finished our end of the week Fast meeting with the writers and the whole team… to say the excitement for our finale was incredibly powerful is an understatement. Wow. So exciting…”
Diesel thanked fans of the franchise “for being the backbone of this global saga,” and added, “This grand finale is not just an ending, it’s a celebration of the incredible family we’ve built together.”
In November 2024, Diesel hinted that Universal was pushing for a March 2026 release of Fast X: Part 2.
“I have Comcast in the other ear saying we need two movies to be the Finale! Then the writer on Fast Five sent me this image and said we need to see DOM and HOBBS resolve their differences,” Diesel said on Instagram. “I just want to get back to real street racing, practical stunts… and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood.”
