Vince McMahon garnered headlines amid allegations of sexual trafficking and misconduct raised by a former WWE employee. Surprisingly enough, McMahon’s current allegations ended up forcing AEW to nix their plans when it came to announcing Mercedes Mone’s debut.

Vince McMahon’s lawsuit ended up dominating headlines last week and it was a major topic of discussion after the Royal Rumble as well, although Triple H didn’t necessarily give any proper answer to the allegations.

Following the breakdown of negotiations between WWE and Mercedes Mone, there are rumors suggesting she may have secretly signed with AEW. Despite these speculations, she has not made any appearances on AEW television at this time.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Vince McMahon’s ongoing lawsuit and revealed that AEW was supposed to announce Mercedes Mone’s debut on Saturday but the lawsuit forced them to nix those plans.

“I don’t know if you know this or not but they were originally going to make the announcement on Saturday but then they realized that was probably not the best day to the make the announcement because with the Vince stuff, it’s like nobody is going to be talking about this. It’s better to do the announcement at a time when people will be talking about it rather than to get lost in the sleaziness of Vince McMahon story that is all over everywhere. “

AEW’s strategic approach to Mercedes Mone’s debut has also been revealed. In fact, they could debut her on next week’s Dynamite as part of Tony Khan’s announcement, so we’ll have to see what AEW will do in the end.
