Re-elected by a large margin as head of the Professional Football League on Monday, Vincent Labrune obtained 85.67% of the votes.

There was no suspense. There was no surprise. While the elections for the presidency of the Professional Football League (LFP) were held on Monday, Vincent Labrune was re-elected to the position he has held since 2020. Facing Cyril Linette, his only opponent (drafted), the former president of OM obtained an implacable score, with 85.67% of the votes of the General Assembly, in the first round.

Cyril Linette had nevertheless obtained the majority of the votes of the Ligue 2 college a little earlier in the day. But those of the Ligue 1 clubs weighed infinitely more heavily, and the majority of the latter having chosen Vincent Labrune, there was no surprise in the end. Thus, of the seventeen members present within the board of directors, fourteen raised their hands for the outgoing president, while two chose Cyril Linette and one abstained.

Four more years

Vincent Labrune is re-elected for four more years. The CVC chapter, the various controversies and the fiasco of the TV rights of Ligue 1 will therefore not have weighed on the decision of the presidents of Ligue 1 who did not wish to change boss. It remains to be seen how things will evolve in the months and years to come

At the moment, the number of subscribers DAZN would be around 100,000 to 150,000, ten times less than the lowest figures initially hoped for. Will the broadcaster stay long if nothing changes? Ligue 1 club presidents believe in their proven champion, Vincent Labrune, to continue to save them no matter what.
