Unfortunately, there have been numerous reports of racist abuse directed at Vinicius Junior over the past 12-18 months.

This trend has continued over the past few weeks. The latest incident took place on Sunday during the 1-1 draw between Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano in Vallecas.

As Relevo reports, Movistar Plus’ The Day After filmed the moment a Rayo fan appeared to make a monkey gesture towards Vinicius during the match, in what is yet another shocking episode for football Spanish.

A new controversy

The report goes on to say that La Liga is considering denouncing the fan in question, which could have criminal repercussions. For now, neither Rayo nor Real Madrid have addressed the issue, but the former is expected to take action in the coming days.

Racist incidents continue to regularly plague Spanish football. La Liga must take action, as must its clubs, so that this problem is eradicated once and for all.
