Brazilian footballer Neymar did not hear that his compatriot Vinicius Jr was crowned Ballon d’Or to convey his personal congratulations.

According to the rumors that have been circulating in Spain for a few days, Vinicius Jr is already assured of winning this year’s Ballon d’Or. The vote for the 2024 edition went in his favor to the detriment of the other players who were expected to win the award, Rodri and Bellingham in the lead.

Neymar admires Vinicius

Among the first personalities who rushed to congratulate the Real Madrid striker was his compatriot Neymar: “Of course, I will support him to win the Ballon d’Or this year. For me, there is no better candidate to win it. He is someone who deserves it, because he is a fighter. He has suffered a lot throughout his life, but he has overcome all expectations and criticism. He has become an idol for all of us.”

It should be noted that Neymar has never won a Ballon d’Or during his professional career. The best place he has occupied in the final ranking of this prestigious award is 3rd. That was in 2015.

As a reminder, there have been no Brazilians who have won the Ballon d’Or since Kakà in 2007. The other Auriverde to have had their name on the list of winners of this individual prize are without Ronaldo (twice) and Rivaldo.
