Vinicius, the most persecuted player in history?

Carlo Ancelotti stepped up to defend Vinicius, once again caught in the whirlwind of criticism.

Vinicius is, as often since his rise to fame in the Real Madrid jersey, at the heart of virulent debates which make him one of the most divisive stars on the football planet. The Brazilian, who is still a key player for the Spanish club, was widely criticized after last Wednesday’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig. Vinicius received a yellow card for pushing Dani Olmo in the throat, where his detractors would have clearly brought out the red instead of the match referee.

In the process and from this part, we can read here and there to what extent the general behavior of the Auriverde attacker is problematic. We remember that at the time when he had been the target of racist cries and insults, some had already found a way to incriminate him.

Ancelotti: “Everyone must change their attitude towards Vinicius”

Carlo Ancelotti, his coach at Real Madrid, is exasperated to read and hear things that he considers completely unfair and inappropriate about his player. The Italian was moved by this on Saturday at a press conference, on the eve of the reception of Celta Vigo on behalf of the 28th day of La Liga.

“I have never seen a player as persecuted as Vinicius is. We kick him, we whistle at him, we insult him. What is he doing ? He scores goals and makes assists. Should I talk to him about his attitude? Instead, everyone needs to change their attitude towards him, because never has a player as talented as him suffered what Vinicius is undergoing. I don’t forget. Against Rayo Vallecano, he received a karate-like blow to the head, without any warning behind it. Now everyone is calling for a red card because he pushed a player against Leipzig…”, lamented the former Paris Saint-Germain coach.

In fact, Carlo Ancelotti is right since the only answer that Vinicius provides is that of the field. The Brazilian scored against Leipzig, a few days after scoring a double against Valencia. In all competitions, he has so far compiled 15 goals and 6 assists, despite injuries which have slowed him down.
