Virgil Van Dijk will leave the Netherlands team rally.

Virgil Van Dijk does not intend to linger with the selection of the Netherlands. The Dutch central defender will shorten this international break and return to England, in order to prepare for the next domestic and European matches for his club, Liverpool.

Van Dijk must in fact serve a one-match suspension after receiving a red card during the Netherlands’ match against Hungary on Friday (1-1). A little hiccup for the defensive leader of the Netherlands, an essential link in the Batavian selection.

“The right time to take a rest”

Virgil Van Dijk will therefore be absent for the clash between the Netherlands and Germany. The LFC central defender had, however, hinted that he would not leave his national team. “Of course I will travel with the team”he said at the microphone of the NOS channel. It won’t happen.

“I would have liked to continue supporting the selection, but I decided to return homehe finally corrected. We talked a lot about all the matches we have to play, all these trips. It’s a good time to take some rest. »
