Kwara State has been ranked as the best-performing state in Nigeria for counterpart funding payments under the Rural Access Agricultural and Marketing Project.
The announcement was made on Monday in Abuja at the 8th RAAMP Implementation Support Mission, where progress across participating states was assessed as part of preparations for the new year.
A statement from the Kwara State Ministry of Works and Transport, signed by Press Secretary, Olajide Abolarin, confirmed that Kwara emerged as the top-ranking state among the 19 participating states in two key categories: counterpart fund payments and overall disbursement of funds.
Reacting to the achievement, Kwara State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Abdulquawiy Olododo, described the ranking as a testament to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to equitable development.
“This is a big win for our state. It shows how committed His Excellency has been to the cause of equitable development. This award is a confirmation of his efforts to develop our state,” Olododo said.
“At the session, awards across different categories were given, and Kwara won two categories. We won overall best in counterpart funding among the 19 participating states. What this means is that no state paid more counterpart funding to the programme than Kwara.
“We also won the award for overall disbursement, which means no state among the 13 states in our category drew more funds than Kwara from the World Bank and French Development Bank,” the statement added.
The ministry further highlighted the impact of this funding, stating that construction work is currently ongoing on 209.77km of roads across Kwara State—a direct result of the government’s proactive approach to infrastructure development.
