WAFU Cup: Golden Eaglets Target Positive Start Against Burkina Faso

Holders Golden Eaglets of Nigeria will look to open their campaign at the WAFU B U-17 Championship on a winning note when they take on Burkina Faso on Thursday (today).

The game against the Burkinabes is slated for the University Stadium, Accra.

The encounter will be a repeat of last edition’s final which the Golden Eaglets won 2-1.

Experienced tactician Manu Garba is back in charge of the Eaglets and has expressed confidence in the ability of his team to have a successful campaign.

Garba said his players have settle down well in their new environment after a rigorous training exercise in Abuja.

He further stated that their objective is to pick one of the tickets to the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.

“The players have been responding to training. The weather is similar to what we experienced in Abuja before our departure,”he told thenff.com.

“Our primary objective is to get one of the two tickets from here to the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations. We will focus on the matches one at a time. For now, we are focused on our opening game against Burkina Faso.”

The encounter will kick-off at 4pm Nigeria time.
