Nigeria’s Flying Eagles were rewarded with N5m by Wilfred Ndidi following their victory over Cote d’Ivoire at the WAFU B U-20 Championship.
Aliyu Zubairu’s side defeated the Ivorians 2-1 in their last group game at the Stade Municipal on Thursday.
They lost their first game 1-0 against Burkina Faso but the win over Cote d’Ivoire ensure the team’s qualification to the semi-finals of the competition.
Ndidi, according to the Flying Eagles media officer, Sharif Abdallah doled out the money after the victory over Cote d’Ivoire.
Nigeria’s deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau also donated N2m to the Flying Eagles on Friday.
Nigeria will take on Niger Republic in the semi-final on Saturday. The game will kick-off at 4pm.
Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire will clash in the other last four encounter.
