IMG Credit: WWEHello again! With so many wrestlers presented throughout various promotions over the years, it can be very difficult for someone to stand out. One of the most unique aspects of wrestling though is that someone can pop back up after a very long time away for a special appearance. That is what we saw over the weekend as someone made one of their first appearances in nearly 20 years.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Not Yet: Details On Why AEW Held Back On Debuting Former WWE Champion At WrestleDream
Over the weekend on the AEW WrestleDream Zero Hour show, a tag match between the MxM Collection and the Acclaimed took place. The Collection was accompanied to the ring by Rico Costantino, formerly known as Rico in WWE, who was brought in to counteract the Acclaimed’s manager Billy Gunn. The two have a history, as Constantino managed Gunn in WWE in 2002. Late in them match, Costantino attempted to interfere, only to be taken out by Gunn, leading to the Acclaimed winning. There is nothing to suggest that this was anything more than a one off appearance. Constantino, 63, last wrestled in 2005.
This was out of nowhere. Check out Constantino’s appearance (beginning at about 48:00), plus his time in WWE:
Opinion: This is not something I would have expected, as Constantino has not been around in about twenty years but popped up here again. The good thing is that Constantino could not have been a more perfect pick, as he fits in with the Collection and has a history with Gunn. It isn’t something I’d want to see full time, but for a one off cameo, it was quite a bit of fun.
What did you think of the return? Who else would you like to see make such a cameo? Let us know in the comments below.
