Barcelona star forward Lamine Yamal played a key role in the team’s victory against Las Palmas, delivering a perfectly timed pass that led to Dani Olmo’s opening goal.

Despite his contribution, the young forward found it difficult to showcase his usual brilliance on the right wing at the Estadio de Gran Canaria.

The home side’s defenders were relentless in their marking, giving him little space to manoeuvre and limiting his impact throughout the game.

Las Palmas’ defensive approach was so aggressive that Yamal did not leave the pitch unscathed.

During one of his characteristic attacking runs, he attempted to take on his markers but was brought down following a tough challenge from Dario Essugo and Alex Suarez.

The forceful nature of the tackle left the Barcelona winger in visible discomfort on the ground, yet the referee decided against awarding a foul.

The incident sparked frustration among Barcelona players, who believed the challenge warranted a decision in their favour. However, the biggest reaction came from Yamal himself after the match.

Yamal’s reaction

The young winger later took to social media to express his disbelief at the referee’s call. He shared a video on his Instagram stories displaying his foot covered in blood, highlighting the severity of the contact he endured during the game.

Accompanying the video was a message questioning the referee’s decision, hinting at his frustration with the officiating.

Despite the physical toll, Yamal remains a crucial player for Barcelona, consistently proving his talent at just 17 years old. His ability to influence matches, even when closely marked, speaks volumes about his potential.

While Las Palmas’ defensive strategy was effective in limiting his attacking threat, his ability to produce decisive moments, like his assist for the opening goal, once again demonstrated why he is one of the most exciting young players in European football.
