You hate to see it. Tonight on Smackdown, two superstars appeared to have suffered a potentially serious injury during a match.

A match was set up between Carmelo Hayes and Austin Theory after Theory and Grayson Waller barged in on Hayes having a meeting with General Manager Nick Aldis. The match was halted abruptly by the referee following a Spanish Fly move from the top rope, which appeared to cause potential head or neck injuries to both wrestlers. The referee is instructed to stop the match if a wrestler sustains any form of injury, including neck injuries or concussions.

You can see a clip of the injury below:

It is unknown whether this is a storyline or a legitimate injury. We will provide more updates as they are made available to us.

Editor’s Opinion:

This didn’t look too bad when I saw it in real-time, but even Corey Graves recognized it right away and noticed that the injury appeared to be serious. He then reminded the audience that they shouldn’t try this at home for this very reason. We hope that Hayes and Theory are okay, as you absolutely hate to see this sort of thing happen.
