Raphinha has been one of Barcelona’s standout players this season, and a big part of his success is the unwavering commitment he has to the club.

The Brazilian winger has often expressed how playing for Barcelona is a dream come true, and how his childhood idols were once stars for the Catalan giants. His passion and dedication to the team have been evident on the pitch and off it.

In a recent post on Barcelona’s official social account, Raphinha picked his ideal starting XI from the club’s history. His selections were a mix of players he had the privilege of sharing a dressing room with and others who came before his time at the club.

Defence

Starting with the goalkeeper, Raphinha chose the legendary Victor Valdes. Valdes was an essential figure in Barcelona’s success for 12 years, securing 21 major titles during his time at the club.

In defence, Raphinha selected three players. The first was Carles Puyol, a player he never had the chance to play alongside, as Puyol retired in 2014. Despite this, Puyol’s leadership and strength on the field left an undeniable mark on Barcelona.

Next, Raphinha included Gerard Pique, with whom he played for a brief period in the 2022 season, before the iconic defender’s retirement. The third choice was Jordi Alba, a player Raphinha shared the field for more than one season.

Midfield and attack

For the midfield, Raphinha picked the legendary trio of Sergio Busquets, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, who together formed one of the most successful midfielders in football history.

To round off his midfield, Raphinha included his all-time hero, Ronaldinho. The Brazilian forward, who was a magical figure during his time at Barcelona, has had a significant influence on Raphinha’s career.

In attack, Raphinha’s dream team included Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar—three players who made Barcelona’s front line feared across the globe. Together, they formed one of the most formidable attacking forces in the club’s history.
