IMG Credit: WWEHand then over. Winning a championship can be a big deal for any wrestler’s career as you get both a fresh start for the new champion and a new path or the former champion. That can be quite the game changer and the question becomes where things go from there. That was the case again this week on SmackDown, but in this case it was twice as big as a normal change would be.

The main event of this week’s SmackDown saw a title change as DIY defeated A-Town Down Under to win the WWE Tag Team Titles. This is the team’s first reign as champions on the main roster, though they are former NXT Tag Team Champions. The two teams have been feuding for the last few weeks, with DIY winning the championships in their first title shot. A-Town Down Under had been champions since WrestleMania 40, when the WWE Tag Team Titles were split into two sets of belts.
It’s a big deal. Check out the title change, the fallout, and the new champs in action:
Opinion: This isn’t a bad way to go as A-Town Down Under had seemingly reached their peak as a team and it was time for something new. DIY has been needing a big win for a long time now and thankfully WWE has gotten it right. I’m not sure how well the new reign is going to go, but the team has to win the titles before they are able to actually do something with them.
