The end of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Mariah May defeat Willow Nightingale to win the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. This set May up for a shot against Women’s Champion Toni Storm, her longtime friend and mentor at All In. Following the match, May turned on Storm, attacking her with the Owen Hart belt and a shoe. May also attacked Storm’s butler Luther.

Opinion: This was a heck of a surprise and that is often a good way to go. What mattered here was having May look like a monster and someone who turned on her friend and mentor after getting what she wanted. That is something that should set up a heck of a showdown later on, possibly with Storm being a bit more serious than usual. In other words, AEW has done something rather well and we should be in for an effective story.
