The circus has made its way to Broadway — thanks to ‘Water for Elephants.’ The musical, based on Sara Gruen’s 2006 novel, is currently dazzling audiences at the Imperial Theatre; and was recently nominated for 7 Tony Awards. The work tells the story of a man who runs away from his life, only to find himself involved with a traveling circus. One of the show leads, Isabelle McCalla (Marlena) and its Tony-nominated co-choreographers Shana Carroll (circus designer) and Jesse Robb, visited the Page Six Studio to discuss the production’s journey from its 2023 world premiere in Atlanta to now bringing the big top to New York City. Page Six also went behind the scenes of the show to learn more about the high-flying group of acrobats that take center ring in this circus-themed love story.
