Wayne Rooney set for Old Trafford return to face Celtic Legends

Wayne Rooney is set to return to Old Trafford to take part in a Manchester United Legends match at Old Trafford.

Manchester United confirmed that Rooney will be playing in the match against Celtic Legends on 7 September (during the international break) at Old Trafford.

The United team will be managed by Bryson Robson with Andy Cole sat alongside him in the dugout as assistant manager. The team which now includes Rooney will also feature the likes of Antonio Valencia, Dimitar Berbatov and Paul Scholes.

Kick-off is scheduled at 14:00 and tickets can be got here.

Proceeds from the game will go towards supporting the community work of Manchester United Foundation, the club’s associated charity.

In May 2022, the Legends match against Liverpool raised over £1.3 million.
