Erik ten Hag spoke after a disappointing 1-1 draw against FC Twente at Old Trafford.
European nights have been a struggle for Manchester United in recent times. The best Ten Hag has managed is the Europa League quarter-finals, but everyone knows the Champions League is the competition the Reds plan to be competing in.
Results like 1-1 against FC Twente in Europe’s second rate competition won’t take us far. It certainly won’t take us to where we need to be.
The football in the first half was good but at half-time, with the scoreline 1-0, we should have been home and dry. Too many chances gone to miss.
Ten Hag points out how the levels dropped off in the second half. That was as clear as day to say, but why does it keep happening?
The manager correctly states that we have a goal away, which the players must be kicking themselves about… yet again.
“In the second half we dropped a level and gave a goal away.”

It was a disappointing result and we’ve got a right to feel rejected as a result. Ultimately it falls down to us allowing Twente to stay alive and we got punished as a result.
