Erik ten Hag has injury concerns ahead of the Community Shield against Man City on Saturday.

The club provided an update ahead of the press conference stating that Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof were doubts for the game, but the manager has now confirmed that he has four potential absentees in defence with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw also noted as doubted.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the trip to Wembley, Ten Hag said (via Manchester Evening News): “Harry Maguire missed the game (vs Liverpool), was a precaution but is still a question mark for Saturday. So we have training, we have to see whether he is fit enough or not to be available. Victor [Lindelof] played but also he’s a question mark and also Azza [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] and Luke Shaw are both question marks, we have to asses them tomorrow [Friday].”

The one player that concerns me is Shaw considering the amount of football he missed last season, and how he was prepared and ready for England during the summer. Now the season is about to start and we’re back to being without key players.

United welcomed back the Copa America contingent this week and Ten Hag was asked whether they will feature at Wembley.

Ten Hag replied: “That is individual based, everyone has a different background, we put them on off-season programmes but they have different starts while we were in USA, we will assess them, make a decision whether they start, come from the bench or whether they don’t play.”

The manager was quizzed further on Lisandro Martinez than the rest of our South American contingent who featured at the Copa America.

“We think about Licha to be involved in the game,” the manager said.
