Deputy Roads and Highways Minister and Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini
The Deputy Roads and Highways Minister and Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, has emphasised the need for strict monitoring and accountability to ensure the successful implementation of the 2025 Budget.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, 15th March 2025, he stated that all stakeholders must play an active role in ensuring that the government’s fiscal plans translate into tangible benefits for Ghanaians.
His remarks follow the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson on Tuesday, 11th March. The budget outlined key policy measures aimed at economic recovery, job creation, and social development.
However, Mr Suhuyini stressed that without proper oversight and commitment, the budget’s objectives may not be fully realised.
“We are all going to ensure that we either monitor or, if we are tasked with certain aspects of the budget, we ensure that the intentions of the budget are achieved,” he asserted.
The Tamale North MP underscored the importance of transparency in the execution of budgetary allocations.
He pointed out that past budgets have often faced implementation challenges due to mismanagement and lack of proper follow-through.
“A well-crafted budget is meaningless if there is no commitment to its effective execution. We need to make sure that resources are used efficiently and that every project outlined in this budget is delivered,” he noted.
Suhuyini also urged Parliament and civil society organisations to remain vigilant in tracking government spending and policy implementation.
He reaffirmed his commitment to playing his part in ensuring that the government delivers on its promises.
