Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim offered words of support for Luke Shaw, insisting he remains important for his plans.
The London native made his breakthrough at Southampton before being poached by the Red Devils in the summer of 2014 for circa £35 million. However, his time at Carrington has been marred by a seemingly never-ending injury ordeal.
The England international suffered yet another blow earlier this week, and he could be set for a lengthy layoff.
While this untimely hurdle will prevent him from making an early impression on the newly-appointed United manager, the latter reveals that he still holds the left-back in high esteem.
Amorim explained that Shaw is already working hard as he’s determined to return to the pitch as soon as possible.
“What I can say, since I arrived, I see him [Shaw] in the medical department working a lot in the gym,” said Amorim in the aftermath of his team’s 0-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Wednesday night (via The Daily Mail).
“Working a lot on the pitch, we control the load during the games, during the training sessions, he was losing weight, so he was doing everything.”
Amorim will eagerly wait for Shaw to rejoin Man United squad
