The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the party will field candidates for the positions of chairmanship and councilors across the 17 local governments of Enugu State, in the October local council election.
The Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Nwafor Alphonsus Onyeachonam, said the state chapter has been working hard to resolve its internal issues to come out stronger.
“The APC will be participating in the 2024 local government elections in Enugu state. Previous gaffe by the rested chairman in the contrary should be discarded into the trash bin as our party has made every arrangement to participate and win all Chairmanship and councillorship positions in the 260 wards in the forthcoming council polls in Enugu state,” he said.
Onyeachonam, in a statement on Wednesday, pledged their support to the National Chairman of APC, Umar Ganduje, ahead of the September National Executive Council (NEC) and National Caucus meeting.
He called on the Ugochukwu Agballa and some other members of the party stakeholders in the state to abide by the court ruling and join him in ensuring the party becomes victorious in the state.
“We pledge our support and solidarity to the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abudlahi Ganduje.
“We promise our unalloyed support, to work harder to ensure that the APC redefines its strength in Enugu state and in the entire South East.
“We urge the presidency to ask Ugochukwu Agballah to approach the political party that he worked for in the 2023 election for appointment.
“We have taken note of the aberration and impersonations that took place on Saturday, August 24 in our party office at GRA Enugu, where Ugochukwu Agballah converged with co-travelers despite the court order prohibiting him from such impersonation.
“The impunity was further perpetuated with the dropping of the name of the National Chairman of our Party, Dr Abdulahi Ganduje as being represented by Emma Enukwu.
“Let it be known here and now that there was nothing like the representation of Dr. Ganduje in the charade on August 24, 2024.
“The National Chairman of our party does not participate in illegal gatherings and has never found himself in the wrong side of the law as was attended in Bishop Onyeabor street, GRA, Enugu.
“We further note the Justice CVC Ezeugwu of Enugu State High Court session of August 27, 2024, where Ugochukwu Agballah through his lawyers failed woefully to stop proceedings in his trial and was unable to convince the court that it does not have jurisdiction to entertain the application with which he was restrained from parading himself as the Chairman of the APC in Enugu state.
“The general public are hereby notified that the court order restraining Ugochukwu Agballah and co from parading themselves as executive members of the Enugu state Chapter of the APC is still in force.
“The National secretariat of the APC and the general public are therefore updated with this development,” Onyeachonam said.
