Looking at these Premier League fixtures in this round of matches.
Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.
Eddie Howe having got that massive win at West Ham on Monday night.
This was after pretty much all the other results of Premier League fixtures last weekend had gone against NUFC.
Nevertheless, that win over the Hammers put United into a great position, with the next four league matches seeing Newcastle play away at all but relegated Leicester, in amongst three home games against sides who are between 11th and 14th (Brentford, Palace and Man U).
Anyway, Newcastle United have other commitments (Wembley!) this weekend, so whilst we are focussing on other matters, there are some potentially huge Premier League fixtures that could help or hinder the NUFC cause when it comes to potential Champions League qualification.
Here are this weekend’s Premier League fixtures:
Saturday 15 March
Everton v West Ham (3pm)
Ipswich v Forest (3pm)
Man City v Brighton (3pm)
Southampton v Wolves (3pm)
Bournemouth v Brentford (5.30pm)
Sunday 16 March
Arsenal v Chelsea (1.30pm)
Fulham v Spurs (1.30pm)
Leicester v Man U (7pm)
This is how the table looks on Saturday morning (15 March 2025) before any of the Premier League fixtures this weekend are played:
Conclusions
Seven of the top half teams play Premier League fixtures this weekend.
Apart from Newcastle, the other two who don’t play PL football are Liverpool, who aren’t a competitor for NUFC when it comes to Champions League qualification, as they are already home and dry.
Villa the other who don’t play, they have played a match more than their CL competitors.
Looking at the seven of the top ten who do play…
Saturday 15 March
Ipswich v Forest (3pm)
Man City v Brighton (3pm)
Bournemouth v Brentford (5.30pm)
Sunday 16 March
Arsenal v Chelsea (1.30pm)
Fulham v Spurs (1.30pm)
My realistic wish list in order, to help NUFC, would be Arsenal beating Chelsea, Man City and Brighton drawing, Brentford preventing a Bournemouth win, Ipswich surprising Forest by preventing them winning, then finally, Spurs getting something at Fulham.
