Wendy Choo commented on her return to NXT after a year out of the ring.
On Tuesday night, Choo wrestled her first match in a year. A knee injury kept her out of the ring for 12 months, with her last match taking place in May 2023.
She returned, not on NXT, but on the NXT Level Up taping that also took place on Tuesday night. Wendy Choo worked with Wren Sinclair in a match that is set to air on Friday’s Level Up.
Choo spoke about her return to the ring with a post on Twitter. Playing off her character, which is of a perpetually sleepy character who wrestles in a onesie, she called her stint on the injury table a “long ass nap”.
This was in response to a fan posting a photo of the 32-year-old, and saying they were happy to see her back. Wendy Choo responded by saying:
“Woke up from my long ass nap.”
Her match last night was her first match since last year, where she teamed with Kelani Jordan to defeat Elektra Lopez & Lola Vice on NXT Level Up.
NXT Champion Trick Williams Explains What ‘Whoop That Trick’ Means
New NXT Champion Trick Williams explained the meaning behind his catchphrase.
Trick Williams recently spoke with WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard, and spoke about his infamous catchphrase. He noted how ‘Whoop that trick’ was getting kids in trouble for saying it, but that it actually is a term of endearment.
He also noted that he the phrase comes from the move Hustle & Flow.
“Man, it’s crazy, I get kids in trouble all over elementary schools for whooping tricks in elementary school. But just so everybody knows, this is not a derogatory term,” Williams pointed out. “This is a term of endearment. This is for standing up for yourself and righteousness overcoming. That’s what whoop that trick means.”
“I think that’s the magic of it. Hustle & Flow is a great movie. Shout out to Al Kapone, he’s actually the original songwriter of the song ‘Whoop That Trick.’ [He’s based] out of Memphis, Tennessee. He’s actually a good friend of mine and a big supporter of the whole ‘Whoop That Trick’ movement. So, shout out to Al Kapone. He’s that dog.”
