Key Details On Wendy’s Guardian’s Complaint Against Lifetime

On (Sept. 16), Wendy Williams’ appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, filed the suit in the New York Supreme Court about seven months after Lifetime premiered the shocking documentary, ‘Where Is Wendy Williams?’

The two-day event, which aired on February 24 and 25, explored the television maven’s life under guardianship.

The New York Post reports that the complaint targets A&E Television Networks, Lifetime Entertainment Services, EOne Productions, Creature Films, and executive producer Mark Ford, all part of Lifetime’s parent company.

According to AllHipHop, the 75-page complaint argues that the documentary aimed to depict Williams in a demeaning and humiliating way.

“As is patently obvious from the very first few minutes of the Program itself, W.W.H. [Wend Williams Hunter] was highly vulnerable and clearly incapable of consenting to being filmed, much less humiliated and exploited,” PEOPLE reports that the complaint states.

Sabrina Morrissey filed her latest lawsuit months after the initial filing on February 22, just days before Wendy’s documentary was set to premiere.

When the Lifetime documentary crew started filming in August 202, they aimed to document Wendy’s comeback for a new podcast. However, the film shifted focus to her struggles with alcohol addiction and health issues like Graves’ disease and lymphedema.

Showrunner Erica Hansen previously told PEOPLE they were unaware of Wendy’s dementia when filming began in August 2022; otherwise, they wouldn’t have gone ahead.

“I think the documentary really illustrates our journey of trying to understand what was happening. It sheds light on that period of time in Wendy’s life where she was under care of a guardianship and living a very isolated life in New York, in that apartment,” Hansen explained.

Here’s How Much Wendy Was Reportedly Paid For The Lifetime Docuseries

The New York Post reveals Sabrina Morrissey’s criticism of Lifetime’s parent company for allegedly paying Wendy Williams “a paltry $82,000.” Additionally, Morrissey reportedly alleged that Lifetime earned “millions” from the docuseries.

“Eager to sensationalize and profit from W.W.H.’s cognitive and physical decline, Defendants took advantage of W.W.H. in the cruelest, most obscene way possible for their own financial gain, in a manner that truly shocks the conscience,” the complaint adds.

In March, TSR reported that RadarOnline confirmed that Wendy would receive $100,000 per episode for the four-part documentary.

Radar Online also obtained the 18-page contract detailing Wendy’s compensation for the project. The beloved star reportedly signed the contract just before her 2023 diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

According to Radar, Wendy was reportedly also promised a $1,000 daily stipend:

“Producer shall pay Artist a fee of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per shoot day that is pre-approved by Producers that glam is required for the shoot day, as a reimbursement for all of Artist’s and Artist’s associate’s hair and makeup.”

More Details On Wendy’s Health & Current State

In a press release on February 22, Wendy’s caretaker announced that a doctor had diagnosed her with aphasia and dementia. The press release aimed to “correct inaccurate and hurtful rumors about her health.”

“Over the past few years, questions have been raised at times about Wendy’s ability to process information, and many have speculated about Wendy’s condition, particularly when she began to lose words, act erratically at times, and have difficulty understanding financial transactions.”

Consequently, Williams underwent several medical tests in 2023, leading to the diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

Amid ongoing reports about Wendy’s health struggles, the internet celebrated her recent sighting with her son, Kevin Hunter Jr.

As TSR previously reported, they took photos at a holistic store in New Jersey.

The viral image marks Wendy’s first public appearance in over a year. The latest snapshots surfaced on Facebook on August 19 and on Instagram the following day, showing Wendy in a blue outfit, white boots, bright pink lipstick, and blonde-brown hair.

Page Six reveals that Wendy Williams and Kevin Hunter Jr. visited Bolingo Balance in Newark, New Jersey.

In the photo, Wendy smiles while posing beside Victor Bowman, the late Dr. Sebi’s son. An employee described Wendy as “sharp, upbeat, and aware.” The source added that the former TV star was “very bubbly” during their shopping trip and took time to discuss various health products with Victor.
