NXT Deadline is coming up in less than a month, and fans are excited to see the second Iron Survivor Challenge match. Saturday, December 7, 2024, will be here before we know it, and the Minneapolis Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota will get quite a show. That big match is coming together, and the first competitor won their spot during the November 12 WWE NXT.
Wes Lee vs. Cedric Alexander went down this week during NXT in an Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match. This match means a lot to both wrestlers, as they each want to prove themselves at this stage in their careers.
Cedric Alexander is the remaining member of the Hurt Business in WWE, longing to make a new name for himself, as the rest of the stable is now known as the Hurt Syndicate in AEW. On the other hand, Wes Lee is searching for his next path after his notable cross-company clash with his former stable, The Rascalz, concluded.
This match went down right after Sol Ruca beat Cora Jade in shocking fashion to become the first woman to qualify for the Iron Survivor Challenge match. Cedric Alexander and Wes Lee got off to a slower start as they tested each other to begin the battle.
Cedric took Wes Lee down with a headlock, but Lee reversed out of it. They were going back and forth, one-upping each other as they went along with each quick move. Finally, Wes Lee hit a somersault senton backdrop on Alexander to slow him down, but not for long.
They went to the apron where Lee was knocked to the floor and then Cedric leaped over the roped to hit a flipping splash. Then we went to commercial, but things were heating up in the match by the time the break ended. Fans in the NXT Arena were at a fever-pitch for both of the stars as they laid on the mat.
Cedric Alexander hit a springboard flatliner for a two count, and the match carried on. The crowd chanted, “This is Awesome,” as Wed Less hit a Cardiac Kick for another two count.
Fans started to chant, “NXT” as Wes Lee jumped off the top rope, but missed, only to have Cedric Alexander nail a clothesline that turned him inside out. The middle turnbuckle pad was taken off, but the official put it back, although he didn’t tie it back in place. So, at the last moment, Wes Lee ducked and Alexander nailed his face on the exposed turnbuckle. It didn’t take long for Lee to score the pinfall win.
We will have to see who else gets placed in the Iron Survivor Challenge match. There are a lot of possibilities, but now we know the first component to that marquee match.
