No contact has been made yet between the two clubs, however.

Morton, a product of Liverpool's academy, has indicated his readiness to seek opportunities elsewhere.

In a recent interview with LFCTV, he stated: "This month is a big month for myself.

"It's decision time, and I feel ready to kick on and be a proper professional, if that's here or someone else.

"I need to be a bit selfish and go with however I feel."

Under manager Graham Potter, West Ham are looking to enhance their midfield options for the remainder of the season.

Morton spent last season on loan at Hull City in the Championship, making 41 appearances across all competitions.

The season before, he was on loan at Blackburn Rovers, where he featured in 46 matches.

Currently, Morton isn't part of Liverpool manager Arne Slot's primary plans, making a move to West Ham an appealing prospect for the young midfielder.

He is eager to showcase his abilities in the Premier League, an opportunity he hasn't fully received at Liverpool.

At Liverpool, Morton has appeared at under-18, 19 and 21 levels, as well as having made 14 first-team appearances for the Reds.

Those games for Morton have come three times in the Champions League and twice in the Premier League.

He has also made three FA Cup appearances and played six times in the League Cup.

Morton's first assist for the senior side came in October in Liverpool's 3-2 win over Brighton in the Carabao Cup.

The 22-year-old assisted Cody Gakpo for the opening goal to help his side progress into the quarter-finals.
