According to reports, West Ham United are now in the lead to sign Ivan Toney, who is wanted by Arsenal and Chelsea.

There has been a significant change in the competition for Toney; according to Football Insider, West Ham United are now the front-runner despite interest from top Premier League clubs.

According to the source, David Moyes’ team is now in “pole position” make the statement signing from Brentford because they want “to finally address their lack of depth up front and view Toney as their top target.”

West Ham have gone ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea

The England international has a “good chance” of signing with West Ham ahead of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, and other teams, according to Pete O’Rourke, the transfer reporter for Football Insider.

O’Rourke told the Inside Track podcast: “There’s now a good chance that Ivan Toney could end up at West Ham. It would be a statement signing.

“We know they have been lacking a number nine for a couple of seasons now.

“There’s a lot of talk about Arsenal being interested in Toney but my understanding is that that their interest has cooled and they’re looking at other targets.”

Ivan Toney to West Ham United?

With 20 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season, Toney cemented his place as one of the league’s best strikers.

An eight-month betting ban that ran from May 2023 to January 2024 delayed his plans to make a major move last summer.

Toney would add firepower to the West Ham attack

After serving his Brentford suspension, Toney has played in 11 games with four goals and one assist.

In recent weeks, there has been a great deal of conjecture over Toney’s future, as Arsenal have cooled their interest and given other teams the opportunity to lead the transfer race.

The Hammers think that Chelsea’s financial problems present them with a chance to sign Toney.

Following the release of their 2022–2023 financial records earlier this week, which revealed a £90 million loss, the Blues need to exercise caution when it comes to PSR rules.
