Still undefeated this season, Bayer Leverkusen is having a fantastic season. The German club consolidated its leadership position in the Bundesliga by winning against RB Leipzig yesterday (2-3). Absent yesterday because he is injured until April, center forward Victor Boniface (23) is performing very well this season. Arriving last summer from Union Saint-Gilloise, Boniface has already scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 16 matches played in the league. Performances that caught the eye of West Ham, ready to break the bank.

Indeed, according to information from the tabloid The Sun, the Hammers would like to get ahead of Chelsea and Newcastle, also on the spot, and offer a record transfer to afford the services of the Nigerian striker. The English club are said to have long-term doubts over Danny Ings and Michail Antonio, who could walk the door to facilitate Boniface’s transfer. Note that Saïd Benrahma, in the sights of the two Olympics in Ligue 1, is also pushed towards the exit. West Ham sporting director Tim Steidten is negotiating with his former club Leverkusen for the deal to be completed before the end of the winter transfer window. To be continued…
