Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has taken to social media to call out Grammy award-winning singer, Burna Boy for the continued detention of Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington at the Nigeria Police Force.
TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the Darlington was rearrested by the police on Tuesday during his show in Owerri, the Imo State capital for allegedly cyberstalking his colleague, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy.
The singer’s lawyer, Adeyanju had lamented countlessly the police’s refusal to release the singer on bail.
In a recent post, the human rights lawyer, slammed Burna Boy for exhibiting the character of an hypocrite and oppressor.
According to Adeyanju, what the ‘Ye’ crooner is doing to Akpi can only happen in an Animal farm.
He wrote: “Burna Boy a hypocrite, an oppressor and a typical clownish character like one of the many depicted in George Orwell’s book for using police to harass and oppress Speed Darlington over alleged defamation. The thing Burna Boy has done to Akpi can only happen in an Animal Farm.
“For insulting Burna Boy, the ojuelegba Fela, Speed Darlington has been in police custody for over 3-weeks and counting. The Nigerian Police is one of our greatest problem as a nation. Alleged defamation ooo, not armed robbery, murder, kidnapping or any crime whatsoever.”
Darlington was first arrested on 4 October following the release of a controversial video in which he allegedly defamed a fellow musician, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy over his link with the embattled American rapper Diddy.
He was arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja before being detained by the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team in the Guzape area of Abuja.
He was then released on bail on 9 October after spending five days in detention.
