After seemingly bidding farewell to the Bayern Munich faithful after Wednesday night’s Champions League first-phase finale, Mathys Tel may well feature for the club in tomorrow’s Bundesliga clash.

Vincent Kompany granted the 19-year-old his first European start of the campaign for Bayern’s mid-week dead-rubber against Slovan Bratislava. A day earlier, the player had informed the board of his desire to leave before deadline day.

Such news, which was quickly relayed by countless journalists, provoked the attention of a host of Premier League clubs, namely Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, the latter being the only side to have materialised their interest by reaching a verbal agreement worth £50.1 million.

Yet, Tel is thought to favour a move to Old Trafford and, as such, is taking his time to consider all his options before putting pen to paper on a lengthy Spurs contract. To try and speed up negotiations, chairman Daniel Levy flew to Munich today to hold face-to-face talks with the Frenchman and his agent, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Until any deal is finalised, Kompany is free to utilise his forward however he sees fit, but must bear in mind that even the slightest injury could block Tel from fulfilling his wishes of securing increased game time elsewhere.

He was spotted training with his teammates this afternoon ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Holstein Kiel in a contest which could see Tel make his ninth league appearance of the term – as well as his final-ever outing for the Bavarian giants.
