Juventus would dear its casting error. According to Tuttosport, the dismissal of Thiago Motta, which arrived in June 2024 after a remarkable visit to Bologna, would cost 15 million euros to the Turin club. An amount linked to a current contract until June 2027, signed to secure a long -term project. By including the compensation for members of his technical staff (assistants, physical preparers), the total addition would exceed 20 million euros, according to estimates.
A colossal cost for a Juventus already weakened by years of financial deficits (more than 200M € in cumulative losses between 2020 and 2023) and regulatory sanctions (including an exclusion from UEFA in 2023). Management, directed by Gianluca Ferrero, must therefore weigh each decision to the nearest euro.
Champions League in danger: 30 million euros threatened
The real danger lies in the ranking. 4ᵉ From Serie A with 52 points, Juve has only one point ahead of Lazio (5ᵉ) and two on Bologna (6ᵉ) ten days from the end. An absence in the Champions League, which the Bianconeri left from the dams this season, would deprive the club of around 30 million euros in revenues (TV rights, UEFA premiums, ticket office).
A scenario that would make the departure of Motta doubly costly: not only would Juve lose a vital financial windfall, but it should also pay the costs of a new coach. A vicious circle risking aggravating financial difficulties.
The return of Allegri? A risky bet … and expensive
In this context, the name of Massimiliano Allegri resurfaces. The 56 -year -old coach, dismissed in 2023 after nine years in two terms, could be recalled as a Savior. But his return is not without risk. During his last visit, Allegri received 7 million euros net per year, a high salary that Juventus can no longer afford without adjustments.
His conservative methods, criticized before his departure, could also collide with a direction wishing more attractive football. However, his experience (5 Scudetti, 2 C1 finals) and his knowledge of the club make him a credible candidate to relaunch a team in lack of leadership.
Stability or revolution: Juve at the foot of the wall
The final decision will depend on the next 5 matches. If Motta manages to secure 4ᵉ place, it could survive. Otherwise, Juventus will have to choose between costly rupture and risky support.
One thing is certain: in both cases, the club will have to juggle strict financial constraints, under the vigilant eye of UEFA and creditors. Motta's dismissal would not be a sporting failure … but a new economical hard blow.
