A new report has emerged suggesting what is going to happen to TikTok on Sunday (January 19) when the ban goes into effect. Now, it’s becoming more clear what might happen…and it goes a step further than what the law is requiring. Keep reading to find out more… If the Federal Ban does go into effect on Sunday, TikTok apparently plans to go dark for US users. Insiders told Reuters that, upon opening the app, users will see “a pop-up message directing them to a website with information about the ban.” USA-based users will apparently have the option to download their data. If the ban gets reversed after Sunday’s shut down, users would be able to get back online. The Supreme Court could block the ban from happening, but it’s unclear if they will do so. Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court to pause the ban until he assumes office. His inauguration will take place on January 20, the day after the ban is supposed to go into effect.
Initially, rumors spread that for those who download the app ahead of the ban, it would still be usable, but over time, usability would be impacted as no new updates to the app would go through. New users would not be able to download the app from the app store after the ban.
