In a 2021 interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sonakshi shared her family’s perspective on her getting married. She revealed that her father, Shatrughan Sinha, would prefer she remains unmarried. Sonakshi mentioned that her mother occasionally suggests marriage but quickly retracts after a look from her daughter. “If it is up to him (Shatrughan Sinha), then he would never want me to get married. Mom sometimes drops that little bomb saying that it’s time for me to get married, and I just give her one look and then she’s like, okay, fine, fine (laughs).”
Sonakshi also expressed gratitude for her parents’ support, allowing her to focus on her career without pressure. “I’m glad that they have given me that kind of independence where until I’m not ready, they will not really like sit on my head and be like ‘shaadi karlo beta (get married child),” she added.
Shatrughan Sinha reacts to Sonakshi and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding rumours
With wedding news swirling, Shatrughan Sinha recently spoke to The Times of India, expressing his unwavering support for Sonakshi’s choice. “I will always bless her,” he said, neither confirming nor denying the reports. He stated that if Sonakshi is getting married, he’ll happily “support her decision and choice.” The veteran actor emphasised that it’s her right to choose.
Earlier this week, a leaked audio wedding invitation offered a glimpse into Sonakshi and Zaheer’s big day. It read, “We’re making it official (finally)! The rumours were true.”The invite elaborates, “The moment where we go from being each other’s rumoured girlfriend and boyfriend,” Sonakshi says. Zaheer adds, “To being each other’s definite and official husband and wife.”
“Finally, this celebration will not be complete without you so drop whatever you’re doing on the 23rd of June and come party with us. See you there.” The dress code for the event is “formal and festive, just don’t wear red.”
