Hansi Flick’s impressive start at Barcelona has recently been overshadowed by a disappointing run of results in La Liga

The team has only managed to secure 5 out of the last 21 available points, which has put a halt to the momentum he had built up.

Before this setback, Flick was close to matching Barcelona’s best-ever La Liga start, which was achieved under Tata Martino in the 2013-14 season.

However, the recent poor form has led to a noticeable decline in his statistics, placing him behind the previous coaches who held the reins before him.

Where does Flick stand?

Flick has now lost five of the 19 La Liga matches he has overseen, which means a defeat rate of 25%. This is a higher percentage than any of his recent predecessors during their tenure at Barcelona.

Xavi Hernandez, in comparison, managed to lose only five games in 38 La Liga matches last season, which is the same number of losses Flick has already experienced but in fewer matches.

Over his entire tenure from November 2021 to June 2024, Xavi’s defeat rate in La Liga stood at 15%

Quique Setien, who managed the team in 2019-2020, recorded a slightly higher rate of 16%, while Ronald Koeman’s record between 2020 and 2022 showed a 21% defeat rate.

For Flick, this tough stretch has put additional pressure on him to turn things around. With a second half of the season still to play, he has the opportunity to adjust his tactics and improve the team’s form.

His ability to bounce back and secure better results will be crucial if he hopes to meet the high expectations set for him at Barcelona.

The coming months will be key in determining whether he can reverse this disappointing trend and restore the team’s competitive edge in La Liga.
