Here’s What Went Down With J. Cole
On Friday, April 5, Cole released his latest album, ‘MIGHT DELETE LATER.’ The project features a total of 12 tracks, and the last is titled, ‘7 Minute Drill.’
On the three-minute and thirty-second track, the 39-year-old calls out someone seeking “attention” since they “fell off.”
“I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissin’ / You want some attention, it come with extensions…. / I came up in the ‘Ville, so I’m good when it’s tension / He still doin’ shows, but fell off like the Simpsons”
From there, Cole goes on to diss the unnamed rapper’s albums before adding, “He averagin’ one hard verse like every thirty months or something.'”
“If he wasn’t dissin’, then we wouldn’t be discussin’ him,” Cole says, seemingly referring to himself and Drake.
Later in the song, the 39-year-old makes it clear that he didn’t want to drop a “toxic reply” and actually has love for the recipient of his bars.
“My text flooded with the hunger for a toxic reply / I’m hesitant, I love my brother, but I’m not gonna lie / I’m powered up for real, that s**t would feel like swattin’ a fly”
However, Cole adds that ‘7 Minute Drill’ is just a “warning shot,” but if he needs to, he’s “indulging in violence.”
“This is merely a warning shot to back n****s down… / My jack jumpin’ ’bout a rapper makin’ blasphemous sounds / Switchin’ sides like the tassel on the cap and the gown”

Why Are J. Cole And Kendrick Lamar Seemingly Trading Bars?
As The Shade Room previously reported, Kendrick Lamar appeared to send shots at J. Cole and Drake in March. At the time, Lamar appeared as a guest on Metro Boomin and Future’s latest joint album, ‘WE DON’T TRUST YOU.’
On the song, ‘Like That,’ Lamar referred to Drake and J. Cole’s recent single, ‘First Person Shooter,’ and let off spicy bars for the pair.
“Yeah, get up with me, f**k sneak dissing/’First Person Shooter,’ I hope they came with three switches,” Lamar rapped.
From there, Lamar referred to Drake’s recently-released album, ‘For All The Dogs,’ and seemingly labeled himself as Prince and Drake as Michael Jackson.
“Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/Motherf**k the big three, n***a, it’s just big me/ n***a, bum, what? I’m really like that/ And your best work is a light pack/N***a, Prince outlived Mike Jack’/n***a, bum, ‘fore all your dogs gettin’ buried/That’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary n***a, bum”
Drake has yet to release a musical response to Lamar. However, the rapper seemingly shared words for Lamar at a recent concert.
