Here’s What Steve Wilkos Said About The Wendy Williams Documentary
On Sunday, February 25, Wilkos took to TikTok to share a video that featured an on-screen caption that read, “Heartbroken for Wendy Williams.” In the clip, Wilkos brought down his thoughts on the revealing documentary.
“First off, let me say I’m a huge Wendy Williams fan. I love Wendy Williams — I was on her show numerous times [and] Wendy treated me great… so I’m all in Wendy Williams’ corner,” he explained. “But what I watched last night on that show disturbs me because I don’t think it does any good for Wendy. It doesn’t make her look good. She obviously has big-time struggles, medical conditions, and addiction. And what they’re showing is somebody is not protecting her.”
While continuing, Wilkos explained that he doesn’t see how the documentary “serves any purpose at all.”
Watch below as he shares his full thoughts on the documentary and how he believes Williams’ team should “put an end to this nonsense.”
Social Media Is Weighing In
Social media users entered The Shade Room’s comment section to weigh in on Steve Wilkos’ sentiments. Many overwhelmingly agreed with his viewpoint.
Instagram user @sarcasamwrites wrote, “Bruce Willis has been protected by the media to not exploit his condition, Michael J Foxx is given privacy, hell even Charlie Sheen was given privacy! But yall wanna showcase a black woman’s mental and health decline for entertainment! 😒😒 it’s really sad”
While Instagram user @mikalaaaaaaaaaa added, “He literally didn’t tell a lie. They did this financial gain!”
Instagram user @_pettyking wrote, “I don’t care what Wendy said about people in the past. Her situation is a very sad one, that could happen to any one of us. 🙏🏾💔”
While Instagram user @sharismyth added, “...It’s heartbreaking because it doesn’t seem normal and like her ‘team’ is trying to make money and keep getting paid when she needs to be getting some help, she seems very out of it and medicated and maybe even on the wrong meds. It’s sad watching people’s health decline but we shouldn’t broadcast it for the world to see either.”
Instagram user @tayuania wrote, “I love Steve and I’m glad somebody said it ! it’s no way they thought recording her through that was okay… and we know Wendy is Wendy but they got her looking crazy when they should be doing all they can to help her ! I feel like the documentary and them pushes her back to work is simply because the money is running out .. they want to be paid ! When she needs real help”
While Instagram user @nubian_love_queen added, “He’s right. She’s in no condition to be making contractual decisions on her own. And the fact that people are profiting off of her illness is DISGUSTING!! #ProtectWendyAtAllCosts”
Recently Released Footage Shows Wendy Williams Weeks Before Filming
As The Shade Room previously reported, Williams’ care team revealed last week that the 59-year-old has been diagnosed with aphasia and dementia.
“The decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration, not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy, but to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others facing similar circumstances,” the team wrote in a press release publicly shared on Thursday, February 22.
Amid the revelation, it was also revealed that Lifetime would premiere ‘Where Is Wendy Williams’ on Saturday, February 24. At the time, a pre-released clip gave insight into Williams’ current condition.
The footage showed a stark contrast of the figure many remember gracing their TV screens every morning.
As The Shade Room previously reported, a conservator for Williams filed a lawsuit against Lifetime and A&E networks on February 22. The suit reportedly attempted to halt the premiere of ‘Where Is Wendy Williams.’ However, it appeared to have no luck in court, per New York Daily News.
