EXCLUSIVE: Boo Killebrew, who has worked on shows including FX’s Mrs. America and Apple’s Lessons In Chemistry, is developing a TV series based on Alexandra Andrews’ debut novel Who Is Maud Dixon?

This comes after Annapurna and Brillstein Creative Partners, the production arm of Brillstein Entertainment Partners, acquired the rights to the book in a competitive deal.

The book is a thriller set in part in Morocco and was compared by the New York Times to The Talented Mr. Ripley, when it was published in 2021.

It follows Florence Darrow, who has always felt she was destined for greatness, but after a disastrous affair with her married boss, she starts to doubt herself. All that changes when she sets off for Morocco with her new boss, the celebrated but reclusive author Maud Dixon. Amid the colorful streets of Marrakesh and the wind-swept beaches of the coast, Florence begins to feel she’s leading the sort of interesting, cosmopolitan life she deserves. But when she wakes up in the hospital after a terrible car accident, with no memory of the previous night—and no sign of Maud—a dangerous idea begins to take form.

Killebrew, a noted playwright, was a producer on Mrs. America and a co-exec producer on Lessons In Chemistry, and has also worked on A Teacher, Physical and Painkiller. She will develop, exec producer and serve as showrunner on the series.

Allie Goss and Jon Liebman are also set to executive produce for Brillstein Creative Partners alongside Megan Ellison, Patrick Chu and Zelda Wengrod for Annapurna. Kaleb Tuttle will serve as a co-executive producer.

It comes as the book was previously in development with The Post writer Liz Hannah as a feature film for Universal Pictures, Pascal Pictures and Chris Morgan Productions.

“I devoured Alexandra’s captivating book in two days. The characters, themes and realms she boldly explores left me exhilarated, and I’m ecstatic to immerse myself further in Maud Dixon’s dark, thrilling and often hilarious world,” said Killebrew.

“We immediately fell in love with Alexandra’s twisted protagonist, Florence Darrow, and can’t think of someone more perfect than Boo to bring to the screen this exploration of female ambition and obsession,” added Chu, Annapurna’s Head of Film and TV.

“We were completely enthralled by Alexandra Andrews’ page turner of a book and knew it was ripe for adaptation from the moment we read it. We’re thrilled to have found the absolute perfect pairing in Boo to help us bring the world and characters to life,” said Goss.

Boo Killebrew is represented by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
