Three of Ancelotti’s four Champions League victories came after victories over Bayern in previous rounds of the competition.
There is no doubt that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti will go down in history as one of the most successful managers of all time. The Italian is the only man to have won the Champions League four times as a coach, and the only man to have won a title in all five major European leagues (Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1) . And if there is one opponent who is tired of seeing the former AC Milan tactician, it is Bayern Munich, Madrid’s next opponent in the UCL semi-final.
This statement remains valid even considering that Ancelotti managed the Bavarian club in 2016 and 2017. After replacing Pep Guardiola, the ex-Italy midfielder won the Bundesliga in his only full season in charge of the team, as well as two DFL Super Cups. However, his time in Munich was cut short just weeks into his second season, following a 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League group stage. German media claimed Ancelotti had lost the support of his players, who were reportedly unhappy with the manager’s training sessions as not intense enough.
