To achieve this, Rhodes was determined to win the Royal Rumble, something he accomplished. However, he didn’t reveal his opponent for WrestleMania 40 on RAW this week and there’s a reason for that.
As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Cody Rhodes hinted at targeting Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. However, Seth Rollins intervened, putting forth a case for himself to be Rhodes’ opponent instead.
The segment ended with Cody Rhodes still not announcing his opponent for WrestleMania 40, which fans found quite odd. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed WWE’s decision to not announce Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 opponent.
Meltzer stated that the strategy of building anticipation for Cody Rhodes’ decision on his WrestleMania 40 opponent, possibly over a week or more, is a smart move. He noted that it has the potential to generate a significant television rating when the decision is ultimately revealed.
”The idea is, and it’s a smart idea is that they can build up for a week or two or longer and pop a big rating for Cody’s decision. I actually think it’s very smart they did this.”
Plans for Seth Rollins’ WrestleMania 40 opponent have also been revealed. Only time will tell whether Cody Rhodes will end up picking Roman Reigns as his opponent, as fans eagerly wait for his next move.
