Goldie Hawn’s son Oliver Hudson is sharing the reason why he and his sister, Kate Hudson, declined Kurt Russell’s offer to adopt them.

On a recent episode of Oliver and Kate’s “Sibling Revelry” podcast, the actor chatted with Miley Cyrus’ mother, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, and her half-sister, Brandi Cyrus, for a discussion about life with adoptive vs. biological parents.

The conversation took a turn when Oliver, 48, asked Brandi, 37, how she felt when singer Billy Ray Cyrus adopted her during his marriage to Tish.

“I only say this because my dad — he was around for a little bit, then he bailed. We have a good relationship now, but it took a long, long, long, long time [to get there],” Oliver said, referring to his biological father, Bill Hudson, who was married to Hawn from 1976 to 1982.

Hawn, 79, has been in a relationship with Kurt Russell, 73, since 1983.

“Kurt came into my life when I was six, five or six and essentially he raised me. I’m the man I am today because of him, right?” Oliver further explained on the podcast.

”There was a moment when he asked us, myself and Kate, if we wanted to be adopted, and we said ’no.’”

“Not that we were — you know, very aware of probably what it even f–king meant,” he continued. “We were six and 12 or however, I don’t remember the age, but we just said, ‘Well, we don’t need it. The love is right there.’”

Despite feeling loved by the “Tombstone” star, the “Rules of Engagement” alum admitted that it was different than being raised by his biological father.

“At the same time, when you don’t have your biological [parent] around, it’s hard to replace that, no matter what,” he explained. “The love was there with Kurt, there’s no doubt that he is my dad. I call him ‘Pa.’ But there was always — not something missing, but there’s that other side.”

Oliver made headlines in 2015 when he wished Bill a “happy abandonment day” on Father’s Day.

However, their relationship appears to be improving. Earlier this year, Bill shared that the estrangement is thawing.

“We are warming up [and] letting things take their course. All families have rifts. It’s nice that our rift is healing,” the musician said in an interview.

“There’s no pressure. We’re just letting it be what it will be. Because no one is pushing it; there’s no turmoil or issues.”
