Well-known actor Kunle Afod says he has been honoring several movie industry veterans for their services to the business and he is doing so to raise awareness of them among upcoming actors.
He told Saturday Beats, “I have been doing this for some time now, although it was not publicised as much as it is now. I do this because I feel that my set (generation) of actors are the only links between them (veterans) and the younger ones. Many up-and-coming actors don’t even know those veterans. Meanwhile, it was those older ones that paved the way for the industry to survive.
“Most of these veterans don’t get royalties. This is the time to pay homage to them, and thank them for their contributions to the industry, which we are still benefitting from.”

He said, “They are all living fine, because they have children and grandchildren who are taking good care of them. It is just that they miss the industry. We see ourselves as a family in the industry. Whenever I visit them, I realise that many of them still want to act.”
The actor also implored his colleagues in the industry to invite the veterans for jobs, and benefit from their wealth of experience.
