17 We didn’t think Prince Harry and King Charles’ relationship could get any worse than it has been over the past few years! But it has!
A source for Entertainment Tonight on Thursday said that the Duke of Sussex’s “relationship with his father has deteriorated to a new low level.” Whoa! Was that even possible??
When Harry visited Charles in February following the news of his cancer diagnosis, the insider noted their meeting was “warm” but brief due to scheduling, leaving them only an hour to chat with each others. Others would argue it was actually anything but “warm,” though…. Anyway!
Since then? It’s been radio silence. The 39-year-old author can’t get time with his dad! He can’t even get in touch with him! His calls and letters to Charles are reportedly ignored. Yeesh!

A big reason their feud has reached an all-time low? Harry and Meghan Markle’s lack of security. He has been very open about his concern for his family’s safety and desire to have protection for them whenever they visit the UK. However, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures refuses to grant him taxpayer-funded police protection while in the country. They even denied his request to let him pay for it himself!
With his efforts in locking down security unsuccessful, he’s now turned to Charles for help. He believes his dad could fix this whole situation. However, he has not stepped up and intervened. Not once. The Entertainment Tonight insider shared that the two are now “at loggerheads over Harry’s security requests and are no longer communicating.” Harry was even denied time with Charles earlier this month when he traveled to London for the Invictus Games! Oof. The source added:
“Harry has genuine security concerns about the safety of his family in light of Princess Diana’s death and feels that his father can help him in his ongoing battle with RAVEC (the entity that oversees security).”
Pushing the drama between them to the side, wouldn’t Charles want to do what he can to ensure Harry, Meghan, and their children are safe in the UK? You know, since they are still family, even if they are on bad terms! If anything, do it for their young kids! Jeez!
Obviously, the rift between Harry and Charles isn’t just over security. There are A LOT of factors to their bitter estrangement, including the activist’s bombshell sit down with Oprah and rivalry with his brother Prince William. Then, there is the fact that Harry continued to spill the royal family’s dirty laundry in his memoir Spare! To this day, Charles hasn’t gotten over the betrayal! The insider said:
“Their rift is not only just tied to security but also the family’s distrust of Harry and Meghan, including Harry’s tell-all bestselling memoir.”
Yikes! They drifted farther and farther away from reconciliation, that’s for sure. Considering everything going on with the family, including Charles and Princess Catherine’s cancer battles, we hate to see the father and son’s already rocky relationship in worse shape than ever before.
