Both coveted by Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC, Bayern Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso leans more towards the Bavarian club.

He is one of the most prominent coaches at the moment. Working on the Bayer Leverkusen bench, Xabi Alonso is enjoying great success and this season, the former Spanish midfielder is at the top of the Bundesliga standings with his team. No less than ten points ahead of his runner-up, Bayern Munich, and an attractive game offered by his players, all positive points which make Xabi Alonso someone very coveted. Two European heavyweights have already positioned themselves to try to poach him next summer, but the tactician would have his own preference.

On the one hand, Bayern Munich which is going through a complicated season and which has already announced the departure of Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season and on the other, Liverpool which is in much better health than the German team, but which has learned that Jürgen Klopp would leave next June, tired of almost ten years spent on the bench Reds. Coaching places which will therefore become available, with one and the same man in the viewfinder. It is therefore the choice of the king for a Xabi Alonso who would already speak with Bayern.

Too heavy an inheritance

The information was revealed Monday evening by the German branch of Sky Sport. According to Florian Plettenberg, the first contacts have already been made between Alonso and Bayern. The journalist also explained that the Spaniard was also flattered and not insensitive to Liverpool’s interest, but he would be scared by the fact of taking over from Jürgen Klopp. Became a true figure and a hero of Reds by allowing the English club to return to victory in the Champions League and the Premier League, the German coach would therefore be too imposing a monument for Xabi Alonso.

The Bayer tactician would, in fact, be more inclined to continue his path and his coaching career in the Bundesliga, while taking charge of a Munich team whose jersey he wore during his playing career. Negotiations and discussions will therefore continue, and even if the trend is currently in favor of Bayern, nothing says that Liverpool will not succeed in finding the arguments likely to make Xabi Alonso think a little more. To be continued.
